Visiting caves is one of the best ways to discover the Peak’s inner beauty. They have amazing rock formations, rare stones and a unique atmosphere.

Castleton: 20 miles from the Park. Home to the most spectacular collection of caverns in the country, Peak Cavern, Speedwell Cavern, Blue John Cavern and Treak Cliff Cavern.
The Heights of Abraham: 10 miles from the Park. Take the cable car ride to explore this interesting cavern system.
Poole’s Cavern: 18 miles from the Park, at the Buxton Country Park offers a full day out.

There are several activity centres in the Peak District that offer caving under the guidance of a qualified instructor. Sadly we can’t vouch for any as we haven’t tried ourselves but have a search on the web and give it a go (and please let us know how you get on).
